Lilburn Considering $20 Million Sports Complex
Sep 17th, 2010 | By Editor | Category: All Posts, Community, FYI, LilburnIn a bid to spark economic stimulus, the Lilburn City Council is considering a franchise agreement with Big League Dreams, a California company that currently maintains similar facilities in California, Texas, Nevada and Arizona. The Lilburn facility would be located at US-29 and Indian Trail Road where the Jackson Creek Water Reclamation Facility currently resides. The sewage treatment plant is slated to be retired next year.
Lilburn Mayor Diana Preston and 6 others are leaving today to visit a Big League Dreams facility in Mansfield, Texas.
On Monday, the Lilburn City Council voted to enter into a license fee agreement with Big League Dreams for which the city will put up $450,000 in refundable SPLOST funds. The agreement allows Lilburn to examine the company’s financial records as it conducts a feasibility study for a 40-acre baseball, softball and soccer complex that would host local and tournament play.
