Coach Rainey Dies

You won’t be seeing them anymore. Coach E.L. Rainey passed away this past Monday at the age of 84. I grew up in Stone Mountain and graduated from Stone Mountain High School where he coached basketball. I didn’t play basketball but had him for P.E. and from what I remember he was misunderstood by most of the kids in my P.E. class. He could be a bit on the gruff side, but as I came to understand and appreciate, he was just trying to get the most and best out of each kid. I wish it hadn’t taken so long for me to get that. From what I gather he continued to live in Stone Mountain until his death.
